The original restaurant where Chef Katsuya created his magical special dishes and once helmed the sushi bar when it was a sushiya called "Kabuki". He came back later with all his success and bought the restaurant after the owner passed away and put his name on it. The menu pricing has been kept low so there is incredible value here. Crispy rice w/ spicy tuna, seared albacore w/ crispy onion are a must. Also very much like the 4 1/2 roll, Robert roll, salmon sashimi w/ caviar, and the best spicy tuna cut roll in the business.

My spouse and in-laws go there occasionally, and I just love it. It is always busy. That shows how good their food and service are. Even though I am not a huge sushi fan. But one of them I could stuff myself until I explode! Crispy rice with spicy tuna!!! This is out of this world. But I also eat their teriyaki chicken or beef with rice and their delicious cucumber salad. The staff is always kind and friendly. This is seriously one of my favourite Asian restaurants to go to.

Food was neatly packaged ( we got food to go). The grilled salmon is very good, while the salmon skin salad is quite tasty but with really tiny pieces. One sore point is that whenever we order, we cannot pick it up for at least another 90 mins! Upon getting there, service felt like, "don't look inside or try to go any further, just pay and go since you're only getting to go", so I don't know what inside looks like but people were seated outside and seemed satisfied. I would not describe it as a quiet place.

We sat at the sushi bar, next to an obnoxious lady and her husband, that pretty much ruined the experience. She kept distracting our sushi chef Martin, which he had to pause several times while he was preparing our orders just to respond to her. In addition, she kept staring at us, which made us uncomfortable. She made a comment about the sweet shrimp we ordered being previously frozen, to which she said “oh so it’s not good then,” however it was very good, and she kept staring right at me and our order. However, the food and service were great. Martin kept checking in on us, which we appreciated. I acknowledge that it’s not at all the restaurant’s fault for this lady’s behavior, and I’m hoping if we return, she won’t be there.

Great place, very consistent with the quality of fish. Please go check out Jesus with his recommendations of substituting certain fishes in certain rolls. This place craps on the Katsu-Ya off topanga. Came here for my birthday and I left like a happy man. Shoutout Jesus!!! Only complaint is the parking in the plaza but what can you do

Great sushi spot! The food was fresh and well prepared alongside being full of flavour. Price point was reasonable and staff friendly. Has both indoor and outdoor seating, outdoor seating is shaded. Lots of choice of rolls alongside specials.

I am just leaving the restaurant after ordering pick-up, but I already know the sushi will be its usual top quality—something I always expect from Kayauya-Northridge. But what truly sets this location apart is the manager, Joe. His care, attention, and dedication go way beyond the ordinary. Joe is the reason my family and I will keep coming back and why we’ll be bringing all of our dear friends with us. It’s rare to find someone who makes you feel so well taken care of, and Joe does exactly that. His commitment to genuine hospitality sets the standard; he is the best example of what a business manager should be. The owners should feel so grateful they have him leading their team in Northridge. Thank you, Joe, for making this visit, and every visit for your customers so great. You’ve earned our loyalty for years to come!

Sat in front of the chefs, and we were treated well by them. The servers were a bit busy but always nice. The crispy rice with tuna, green beans, and popcorn shrimp were absolutely delicious, and their various rolls were delicious. Would come again. Compared to the Woodland Hills location, the Woodland Hills one is better, but this location is more intimate and has its own charm.
